SERVICES
Design Process
Each client is different, and will want different things from their outdoor space. Vanessa will draw upon many years of experience to formulate a design brief that is specific to the project, offering a free first consultation on site where all aspects of the commission can be discussed, including construction budget and design fees. Once the design brief is agreed, the journey will begin.
CONCEPT DESIGN
Based upon an agreed client brief, Vanessa will carry out a site assessment which takes on board all the unique qualities of the site. Aspect, privacy, topography, views, planting and soil - all contribute to a site's unique characteristics and its relationship with the home or building it is associated with. Working through the opportunities and constraints, she will develop sketch design options with enough detail for an initial cost estimate to be established, enabling realistic decisions to be made about moving forward with the plans. A potential palette of materials, features and plants will be presented through images, sketches and elevations to ensure that the concept is resolved and agreed before moving onto the next stage.

DETAIL DESIGN
Once a concept design is signed off, the plans can become more refined and details resolved to enable a more detailed construction cost breakdown to be established. A typical set of drawings at this stage will include a General Arrangement plan with dimensions and hard elements, sections, elevations and hard landscape details, Planting Plan and planting schedule, plus written specification notes for both hard and soft landscape.

CONSTRUCTION
Vanessa will work closely with a Landscape Contractor or Landscaper to oversee the construction of one of her designs.Â
As a very hands on and practical gardener she can also help clients select plants, large specimen trees, source pots, sculpture, carry out site planting works and advise on an ongoing maintenance regime.
